And realizes she actually is in a dark ballroom lined with mirrors. Dead men and women wrapped in bandages stand around, glasses of wine in hand. No one says anything. Very occasionally someone coughs.
"Blast."
Why? she thinks, Oh why, did I accept an invitation to Mr Stanton's deathday party?
Sapho sighs.
And, not wishing to be viewed as standoffish, coughs.
